Talks with the French Secretary of state for European affairs Harlem Desir were an excellent opportunity to reaffirm the joint will to maintain and develop the bilateral political dialogue and the strong commitment of both countries towards strengthening the European project and international collaboration, Foreign Affairs Minister, Teodor Melescanu said on Monday.

He reminded that the relationship between the two states "carries the imprint of a joint history, deep cultural affinities as well as of a genuine attachment to the French language."

(...) We had a very good exchange of opinions regarding the stage and outlook of the Romanian-French relationship, we reaffirmed the joint interest to continue cooperation along all its dimensions and further implement the strategic partnership's updated road map," Teodor Melescanu told a joint news conference with visiting Harlem Desir.

According to the Romanian official, talks also addressed the situation in the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.
